More about Kevin’s career in law enforcement

Kevin held the position of Commander of his police department’s Crisis Management Team - Crisis Negotiation Team and Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT). Kevin received his police department’s Life Saving Award for his interaction with a person with a mental illness.

Kevin was also the department’s Field Training Program (FTP) Lieutenant. He was responsible for overseeing the administration of the FTP and training of all police recruits. Kevin participated in personnel decisions regarding retention and termination.

Kevin was trained and served as a promotional assessor for the position of sergeant, for other police departments. Kevin also participated as a clinical member of a regional Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) team for emergency responders serving Miami-Dade County.

‘The time you spent in Internal Affairs Unit was particularly important in maintaining the integrity and credibility of this Police Department during various internal investigations of complaints against Police personnel.’

‘Your role as the commander of the hostage negotiators was a critical component of the Crisis Management Team. Your effort last year in successfully dissuading a man from jumping from an interstate highway bridge near Tampa was in the highest traditions of professional law enforcement.’

Combining Careers
Law Enforcement and Mental Health

In March of 2018, Kevin retired from his position of Licensed Clinical Social Worker with the Department of Veterans Affairs in Atlanta. In November of 2018, Kevin founded ‘Law Enforcement Response to Mental Health, LLC’.

Kevin provided training, consultation, contractual agreements, presentations, and clinical services related to law enforcement and mental health. Kevin worked with law enforcement agencies in the development of policy and the implementation of Mental Health and Wellness Programs modified to meet agency specific needs.
